It goes without saying that you want a DJ with superb social skills and a great personality. Of course, they’ll need to know a lot about music. They need to entertain tastefully, and not overpower your celebration. But will they be a good fit for you?
At Sounds Unlimited, we think of ourselves as matchmakers. It’s our job to match couples with a DJ whose personality fits the tone of their celebration. With our exceptional training and apprenticeship program, we’re certain your DJ’s skills and professionalism will exceed your expectations.
If you have seen one of our talented DJs and would like them to perform at your event, simply request them as part of your package. It’s that simple.
Once we have met with you and have your custom event itinerary and music requests in hand, we will be able to match you with the perfect DJ to meet your needs. You will then be able to speak with him prior to your event.
We encourage you to schedule an appointment with one of our full-time staff. It is nice to have the opportunity to get to know your vendors in-person. Call ahead to schedule a time that works with your schedule. We are also open for evening appointments.
You can speak with your DJ as early as you wish, once your online event planner is complete. A personalized phone consultation with your DJ is normally scheduled three weeks before your reception. Our brides unanimously agree; it is great to get to know your DJ weeks before your wedding and not wait until the week of your wedding.
Professional Training and Experience! You can count on them to get it right at your wedding. If you ask other DJs where they received their training, they will tell you…on the job. Unfortunately that’s just another way of saying: they have had no real professional training at all!
It’s like driving a car… without anyone ever teaching you how to drive. With training you learn what to do and what not to do, how to avoid making embarrassing mistakes, and how to steer clear of accidents. While it is possible for someone to drive a car or DJ your wedding without any real training, it’s guaranteed there will be a lot of accidents along the way; and you will still never be prepared for all the emergencies or special circumstances even after driving or DJ-ing for years. It’s definitely not safe nor the best choice for something as important as your wedding.
They learn from their mistakes. They try it one way, and if that doesn’t work, well, they try it a different way at the next wedding. The problem is that a wedding is so complicated; it’s not like a simple party where it’s only about the music. There are special announcements, formalities, extended families, issues with timing and pace, etc. A “learn as you go DJ” will continue to learn from their mistakes, including the ones they will make at your wedding, for years.
With Sounds Unlimited, you will never have to worry about intrusive or obnoxious DJs. We believe in tasteful audience interaction and we will never overwhelm your guests with endless or unneeded DJ microphone chatter.
Have you ever met or perhaps gone out on a date with someone who seemed really nice when you first met them, and then they quickly became someone quite different from what you thought? It’s exactly the same with a solo DJ. They will put on their best face and do their best to convince you that they are just the DJ you are looking for. Unfortunately, couples often find out at their wedding that this DJ was not at all the DJ they were hoping for. Talking with a DJ who is trying to convince you to hire him for your wedding is rarely a good way to find someone you can trust with something as important as your wedding.
After we train our DJs, we work with them for years so we get to know them very well. We know what they are good at, where they will excel, and where they simply won’t be as successful. This allows us to match you with the right DJ! We care about you and your wedding and we want you to have the best DJ.
